MICHAEL JOHN HUNT
ONE-MAN EXHIBITION

JUNE 18 - JULY 19, 2009

Michael John Hunt was born in 1941 in England and is one of those rare talented individuals who is entirely self-taught. Like a singer born with perfect pitch, he is gifted with an innate understanding of perspective and proportion. His ability to then translate his perceptions, utilizing the visual language of classical painting, is flawless. Light is his muse and Vermeer no doubt his inspiration. With meticulously crafted highlights and shadows, he illuminates each scene with rays of sunlight filtering between the cracks of aged wood planks and spilling through open doorways. There is at once an intimacy and immediacy in Mr. Hunt's interiors. For in the real world these moments are fleeting and the incandescent beauty passes as the sun moves on. So accomplished is the artist that one can easily imagine the coolness of the shadowed hallways and feel the warmth of a leather chair bathed in the afternoon light.

Mr. Hunt's work has been represented by the Eleanor Ettinger Gallery for ten years, and we are proud to be his exclusive gallery for paintings in the United States. He has exhibited around the world from Amsterdam to Dubai. With an international legion of admirers, he counts among his collectors members of the British Royal Family.
