STEVE HUSTON: ONE-MAN EXHIBITION
APRIL 16 - MAY 10, 2009

From the beginning, struggle, exertion and sacrifice have been the thematic anchors in Steve Huston's work. It's a world where the battles faced, whether in the ring or in life, require finding heroic qualities from within to meet the challenges. His work has never been more prophetic, more relevant or more inspirational than in today's world. Huston's paintings radiate with energy, and in magnifying the physical reality, he illuminates the human spirit. The strength of the worker, the determination of the boxer demonstrate the heart of the American tradition and the hope of the American future.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska in 1959, Steve Huston spent much of his early career in the warmth of Southern California. There, he first earned recognition as an illustrator and instructor for many of the major Hollywood movie and animation studios. Huston's classical aesthetic finds it's inspiration in the Renaissance paintings of saints and martyrs. In technique and structure he is a classicist, but in content and perspective he is a contemporary master.
